Tour Highlights
Itinerary
Kbal Spean
Begin your adventure with a visit to Kbal Spean, also known as the “River of a Thousand Lingas.” This enchanting site requires a short hike through a forest trail, rewarding you with ancient carvings of Hindu deities and symbols etched into the riverbed and surrounding rocks. The natural setting, complete with waterfalls and lush greenery, adds to the mystical atmosphere, making Kbal Spean a fascinating blend of nature and history.
Banteay Srei
Next, explore Banteay Srei, often called the “Citadel of Women” for its delicate pink sandstone and exquisite carvings. Unlike other temples, Banteay Srei’s smaller scale allows for intricate and highly detailed bas-reliefs, depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. Its beauty and craftsmanship make it one of the most cherished temples in the Angkor complex.
Lunch Break
After exploring Banteay Srei, take a break to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We’ll recommend some authentic Khmer dishes to enhance your cultural experience.
Landmine Museum
The journey continues with a visit to the Landmine Museum, where you’ll gain insight into Cambodia’s recent history. The museum offers a poignant look at the impact of landmines on the country and the ongoing efforts to clear them. Exhibits include personal stories, artifacts, and information about the challenges faced by communities. It’s an educational and deeply moving experience.
Banteay Samre
Conclude your tour at Banteay Samre, a beautifully preserved temple featuring classic Khmer architecture. Its towers, courtyards, and intricate carvings resemble those of Angkor Wat, but its serene and less-crowded setting provides a tranquil atmosphere. Wandering through its corridors and open spaces, you’ll get a sense of the grandeur of the Khmer Empire’s architectural style.
