Kampong Phluk (July to February)
From July to February, embark on a journey to Kampong Phluk, one of the most authentic and fascinating floating villages near Siem Reap. As you glide through its narrow waterways by boat, you’ll see stilted houses towering high above the water, schools, pagodas, and local shops—all built to adapt to the changing seasons. Witness the daily lives of the villagers, who rely on fishing and farming for their livelihood. Along the way, pass through the flooded forest, where trees rise eerily from the water, adding to the village’s charm. This visit offers a unique and eye-opening look into the lifestyle and resourcefulness of Cambodia’s riverside communities.
Chong Kneas (March to July)
Between March and July, explore the vibrant floating village of Chong Kneas. During this season, the water levels drop, and the stilted houses become even more striking, perched high above the dry landscape. Your boat ride through the village will reveal bustling activity: fishermen casting nets, vendors paddling their boats filled with goods, and children rowing small canoes to school.
