Kampong Phluk (July to February)

From July to February, embark on a journey to Kampong Phluk, one of the most authentic and fascinating floating villages near Siem Reap. As you glide through its narrow waterways by boat, you’ll see stilted houses towering high above the water, schools, pagodas, and local shops—all built to adapt to the changing seasons. Witness the daily lives of the villagers, who rely on fishing and farming for their livelihood. Along the way, pass through the flooded forest, where trees rise eerily from the water, adding to the village’s charm. This visit offers a unique and eye-opening look into the lifestyle and resourcefulness of Cambodia’s riverside communities.

Chong Kneas (March to July)

Between March and July, explore the vibrant floating village of Chong Kneas. During this season, the water levels drop, and the stilted houses become even more striking, perched high above the dry landscape. Your boat ride through the village will reveal bustling activity: fishermen casting nets, vendors paddling their boats filled with goods, and children rowing small canoes to school. Experience the local culture and witness how the community adapts to the environment. The tour provides a memorable insight into the resilience and unique way of life of Cambodia’s floating villages.

I made the decision to go with Angkor Doors on pure spec and was very glad I did. Our guide Bunpheng Chan was professional, cheerful, knowledgeable and insightful on the both modern and historical Khmer history and events. We took a half day air conditioned car (4 hour) tour and visited the Wat and Angkor Thom/The Bayon.

Mr Pheng was one of the best tour guides I personally experienced. We never felt that he is trying to take advantage of us and had great passion for his job. He is an interesting person with a lot of knowledge for modern and ancient history and we had amazing talks including big doses of humour!

We used Ankor doors for a 2 day guided tour and it was fabulous! Pheng’s English was good and his knowledge was great. It was very hot and water was provided all day. I don’t think you can visit Ankor Wat without a guide to help you navigate the site and the history.
