Itinerary

Please note that all times are approximate.

Your tour starts at dawn, where you’ll witness the stunning sunrise over Angkor Wat. As the first rays of light bathe the temple’s iconic towers in a warm, golden glow, the view is truly awe-inspiring. Stroll through the grand corridors and admire the detailed bas-reliefs that illustrate stories from Hindu mythology and the Khmer Empire. The peaceful morning ambiance enhances the experience, letting you fully take in the temple’s remarkable architecture and deep spiritual meaning.

Pause for a breakfast at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy a variety of traditional Khmer dishes.

After the sunrise, continue to Ta Prohm, famously known as the “Tomb Raider Temple.” Here, the fusion of nature and history is striking, with massive tree roots intertwining with the temple’s ancient stone structures. Left mostly in its original state since its rediscovery, the temple offers a captivating, jungle-covered setting. As you explore its maze-like corridors, you’ll come across scenic ruins and intricate carvings that evoke the grandeur of its past, making you feel as though you’ve stepped back in time.

Next, venture to Banteay Kdei, a tranquil and less-frequented temple hidden within the jungle. This former Buddhist monastery is renowned for its serene courtyards and detailed carvings of celestial dancers. The peaceful atmosphere, along with its labyrinthine corridors and ornately decorated doorways, offers an intimate experience, allowing you to connect with the spiritual and artistic heritage of the Khmer Empire in a quiet, contemplative setting.

Rest at the hotel

In the afternoon, you’ll visit to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Pass through the imposing South Gate, where statues of gods and demons line the entrance, and explore the awe-inspiring Bayon Temple, famous for its towering stone faces gazing serenely in every direction. Stroll along the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both adorned with detailed carvings. As you uncover the hidden corners of this vast city, brimming with historical and architectural marvels, you’ll leave enriched by the deep cultural heritage of Angkor.

End your tour with a hike up Phnom Bakheng or the South Gate of Angkor Thom, both offering the perfect vantage point to witness the sunset over the Angkor complex. As the sun sinks beneath the horizon, the temple’s silhouette is illuminated in a soft, golden light, providing a stunning view of Angkor Wat and the lush jungle that surrounds it. This enchanting moment is the perfect conclusion to your day of exploration, leaving you with lasting memories of Angkor’s beauty.

I made the decision to go with Angkor Doors on pure spec and was very glad I did. Our guide Bunpheng Chan was professional, cheerful, knowledgeable and insightful on the both modern and historical Khmer history and events. We took a half day air conditioned car (4 hour) tour and visited the Wat and Angkor Thom/The Bayon.

Mr Pheng was one of the best tour guides I personally experienced. We never felt that he is trying to take advantage of us and had great passion for his job. He is an interesting person with a lot of knowledge for modern and ancient history and we had amazing talks including big doses of humour!

We used Ankor doors for a 2 day guided tour and it was fabulous! Pheng’s English was good and his knowledge was great. It was very hot and water was provided all day. I don’t think you can visit Ankor Wat without a guide to help you navigate the site and the history.
