Itinerary

Please note that all times are approximate.
8am - 10:30am

Angkor Wat

Begin your day with a visit to the magnificent Angkor Wat, the largest and most iconic temple in the Angkor complex. Marvel at the grand architecture, intricate bas-reliefs, and towering spires that reflect the grandeur of the Khmer Empire. As you explore its vast courtyards and corridors, learn about the temple’s rich history, religious significance, and the remarkable stories depicted on its walls.

10:30am - 12:30pm

Angkor Thom

Next, venture into Angkor Thom, the ancient city of the Khmer Empire. Start at Bayon Temple, famous for its massive stone faces that gaze serenely in all directions. Walk along the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both adorned with intricate carvings. Visit Phimeanakas, a royal temple once part of the ancient palace complex, and pass through the impressive South Gate with its rows of statues that welcome you to this grand city.

12:30pm - 1:00pm

Ta Keo

After exploring Angkor Thom, stop at Ta Keo, known for its stark, unfinished look. This towering temple mountain, built from large sandstone blocks, offers steep stairways leading to panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. Its simple yet majestic structure provides insight into the grandeur of early Khmer architectural ambition.

1pm - 2pm

Lunch Break

Pause for a lunch break at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy a variety of traditional Khmer dishes and rest before the afternoon’s explorations.

2pm - 3pm

Ta Prohm

In the afternoon, visit Ta Prohm, also known as the “Tomb Raider Temple.” Here, nature and history intertwine as massive tree roots wrap around ancient stone walls, creating a hauntingly beautiful scene. This temple, left in much of its original state, offers an enchanting atmosphere that transports you back to the days of its discovery.

3pm - 3:30pm

Banteay Kdei

Conclude your day at Banteay Kdei, a serene Buddhist monastery surrounded by lush jungle. Wander through its maze-like corridors and intricately carved doorways. The tranquil setting and impressive carvings make Banteay Kdei a peaceful and fitting end to your exploration of Angkor’s wonders.

I made the decision to go with Angkor Doors on pure spec and was very glad I did. Our guide Bunpheng Chan was professional, cheerful, knowledgeable and insightful on the both modern and historical Khmer history and events. We took a half day air conditioned car (4 hour) tour and visited the Wat and Angkor Thom/The Bayon.

Mr Pheng was one of the best tour guides I personally experienced. We never felt that he is trying to take advantage of us and had great passion for his job. He is an interesting person with a lot of knowledge for modern and ancient history and we had amazing talks including big doses of humour!

We used Ankor doors for a 2 day guided tour and it was fabulous! Pheng’s English was good and his knowledge was great. It was very hot and water was provided all day. I don’t think you can visit Ankor Wat without a guide to help you navigate the site and the history.
