Unlike many other temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much of its natural state, offering an enchanting glimpse of what explorers might have felt when first discovering these ancient ruins.
Banteay Kdei
Banteay Kdei, meaning “Citadel of Chambers,” is a peaceful temple surrounded by jungle. This Buddhist monastery features maze-like corridors and intricately carved doorways. As you wander through its serene courtyards, you’ll notice the traces of the past, including carvings of Apsaras (celestial dancers) and crumbling sandstone structures. Banteay Kdei’s quiet ambiance makes it a perfect spot for reflection.
Ta Keo temple
Known as the “Mountain with Golden Peaks,” Ta Keo is a majestic, unfinished temple mountain. Its steep steps and minimalist design offer a different style compared to other temples in Angkor. Climbing to the top rewards you with stunning views of the surrounding jungle. Ta Keo’s massive stone blocks and towering structure represent the architectural ambition of the Khmer builders.
Angkor Thom
Conclude your temple exploration with Angkor Thom, the grand ancient city of the Khmer Empire. Enter through the impressive South Gate and make your way to Bayon Temple, famous for its massive stone faces smiling serenely in all directions. Explore the Baphuon, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King, each adorned with fascinating carvings that tell stories of the past. Angkor Thom is a monumental masterpiece, offering endless sights to explore and wonder at.

As you explore its compact yet ornate structure, you’ll be captivated by the temple’s grace and fine detail, offering a unique contrast to the larger temples.
Banteay Samre Temple
Next, visit Banteay Samre, a beautifully preserved temple surrounded by a peaceful moat. Its architecture resembles that of Angkor Wat, with towers, courtyards, and intricately carved stone lintels. Walking through its serene corridors, you’ll feel the temple’s historical significance and appreciate its quiet charm. Banteay Samre provides an idyllic and less-crowded experience.
East Mebon Temple
East Mebon, originally an island temple, rises impressively amidst a dry reservoir. It is adorned with elephant statues and detailed carvings depicting mythological scenes. As you explore its multi-tiered structure, you’ll notice how it represents the transition in temple architecture from brick to sandstone. East Mebon is an exceptional spot to admire both the creativity and practicality of the ancient Khmer builders.
Preah Khan
